Wir nutzen die vielen Vorteile und Bequemlichkeiten, die das Internet bietet. Recherchen gestalten sich viel einfacher, Bankgeschäfte lassen sich von Zuhause abwickeln und per E-Mail ist jeder rund um den Globus in sekundenschnelle zu erreichen. Die Anzahl der Internetnutzer weltweit betrug 2003 675 678 000, dies war fast eine Verdopplung im Vergleich zu dem Jahr 2000 (387 532 000 Nutzer). In Deutschland stieg 2005 der Anteil, der an das Internet angeschlossenen Haushalte, auf 58 %, ein Zuwachs von 15 % seit 2002. Das Internet hat sich seinen Weg in den Alltag der Menschen gesucht. Die vielen Errungenschaften, die das Internet bietet und die, die es noch bieten wird, sind vielfältig, wie auch der Missbrauch, der mit einigen einhergeht. Es werden Daten ausspioniert, Menschen in aller Öffentlichkeit verunglimpft, aber auch Filme, ohne Einwilligung, öffentlich zugänglich gemacht oder Musik rechtswidrig zum Download angeboten. Die Tätigkeit im Internet und die Bereitschaft zum Download von Inhalten, ob legal oder illegal, ziehen sich dabei durch alle Altersgruppen. Sogar in der Gruppe der "50 Jahre und älteren" besteht ein Anteil von 5 % und dieser ist steigend. Gerade das Urheberrecht sieht sich, in Bezug auf das Internet, immer neuen Herausforderungen ausgesetzt. War vor drei bis vier Jahren noch das Filesharing der "große Feind" des Urheberrechts, so sieht es sich jetzt von anderer Seite aus zusätzlich bedroht. Das neue Zauberwort heißt "Web 2.0". Jeder, der was auf sich hält, richtet sich Accounts bei Youtube, Myspace, Clipfish, StudiVZ und anderswo ein, um sich selbst der ganzen Welt zu präsentieren. Rücksicht auf andere wird dabei selten genommen und gerade geschützte Werke scheinen dabei regel
