About the Book

In 1967, Patricia, a young wife and mother, left her comfortable life in Florida and moved to Okinawa to be with her Army Corps of Engineers husband where she began her overseas work with Revlon. Over the next several years, she moved with her young family to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands, to Hawaii, to Maryland, and to Italy. In this true story, the author reveals how her life journey abruptly turned away from western civilization when she departed Baltimore, Maryland for Camp Darby in Italy. That summer in 1973 the talk was all about the great "Saudi construction program" yet to come, but very much anticipated by Army Corps of Engineers. Three years later Patricia found herself in the middle of the Saudi desert. The year was 1976. As Saudi Arabia embraced the age of petroleum, the religious ruling hierarchy was more and more empowered; and the nation moved further back into a repressive culture unable to move forward on human rights issues. At this time, in this place, the author found the courage to bring about her own change and step into a new destiny that carried her far beyond Riyadh to Cairo; Tel Aviv; Jerusalem; and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Building upon life experiences, Patricia created a new destiny that transported her, once again, to nations of the world in this "age of petroleum." She was in Washington, D.C. when the "9-11 tragedy," hidden by petroleum wealth and power, exploded onto the world scene. Afterwards, Patricia left Capitol Hill to organize her notes and photos and to write her own petroleum story.
About the Author: Patricia lived, worked, and studied in the Far East, Europe, and the Middle East during the 1960s and 70s. During the decade of the 80s, Patricia returned from the Middle East and began work on Capitol Hill where her legislative work covered the major issues of our time. During those years, she worked as legislative aide to Members of Congress Charles Bennett, Marjorie Margolies Mezvensky, and Corrine Brown. She left Capitol Hill in 2000 to work the Gore 2000 Campaign in Florida. Afterwards, she returned to Capitol Hill to manage a Capitol Hill intern program. After the 9-11 tragedy, Patricia left Capitol Hill to write about her experiences and to paint them on canvas. In the last several years, she has written about her Middle East years, specifically, the Camp David Peace Accords as they evolved in Egypt, Israel, and the Sinai during the 70s and 80s. Her book entitled Unveilings, a Desert Journey relate these experiences. She now has updated that book with her latest book, Unveiled: Life, Love, and Religion in the Age of Petroleum. Patricia is a graduate of University of Maryland, Tel Aviv University's Overseas Student Program, and Duke University's Master of Arts program. Currently, Patricia, together with co writer Shelvy Snead, has completed a screenplay based on Patricia's life.
