Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Komparatistik, Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 3,00, Universität Augsburg, Veranstaltung: Proseminar: Unterwelten, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Zunächst mag es weit hergeholt erscheinen, die zwischen 1304 und 1320 verfasste "Göttliche Komödie" von Dante mit dem über sechs Jahrhunderte später, im Jahr 1947 erschienen Roman "Ist das ein Mensch?" von Primo Levi zu vergleichen. Doch so enorm der zeitliche Unterschied zwischen der Entstehung beider Werke auch sein mag, so existiert doch eine enge Verbindung zwischen ihnen. Diese Verbindung besteht in der Thematisierung einer Unterwelt, welche den ersten der drei Teile der Göttlichen Komödie, das Inferno, ausmacht. Auf diese alte, auf dem christlichen Glauben basierende Vorstellung einer Hölle spielt Primo Levi in seinem Roman an. In einer Szene, als der Autor mit einem anderen Lagerinsassen zum Essen holen unterwegs ist, redet er mit diesem über "Die Göttliche Komödie" und rekonstruiert Bruchstücke des Textes aus dem Gedächtnis. Ein weiteres Beispiel ist die Kapitelüberschrift "In der Tiefe", welche an Dantes Hinabsteigen in den Höllentrichter erinnert. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die im Inferno präsentierte, quasi klassische Hölle mit der als ebenso höllisch empfundenen Arbeits- und Vernichtungslagererfahrung Levis zu vergleichen. Fragen wie "Kann ein real existierender Raum eine Hölle genannt werden?" und "Inwieweit kann sich die überirdische Vorstellung einer Hölle in der historisch belegten Vergangenheit widerspiegeln?" sollen im Verlauf der Arbeit beantwortet werden. Im ersten Kapitel wird zunächst, nach der Definition des Begriffs, der semantische Raum "Hölle" in beiden Werken analysiert und verglichen. Anschließend, nach einer Definition des Begriffs "Sünde" werden die Gefangenen, die in den Höllen leidenden Seelen beziehungsweise Menschen verglichen. Im dritten Kapitel werden die Bewacher und Peiniger der Bewohner der Unterwelt betrach
