Inhaltsangabe: Zusammenfassung: Durch Minimierung der Erosion sollte für ein Hochleistungsschaltsystem (Spannung größer gleich 15 kV, Strom größer gleich 100 kA, Entladezeit größer gleich 1 µs) auf der Basis eines radialen Mehrkanal-Pseudofunkenschalters die Lebensdauer erhöht werden. Sämtliche Messungen wurden an einem schwach gedämpften Entladekreis mit einer Stromumkehr von 90 % und einer Kapazität von 2,2 µF, 6,6 µF bzw. 108 µF durchgeführt. Zur leichten Variation der Geometrie war jeder Schaltertyp lediglich mit einem Glasisolator versehen und mit O-Ringen gedichtet. Es zeigte sich, daß beim radialen Schalterdesign, entgegen dem koaxialen Design, die Lebensdauer des Schalters für Entladezeit größer gleich 0,5 µs und Ströme größer gleich 30 kA durch die Erosion im unteren Bereich der Schalter-Hauptelektroden begrenzt wird. Es mußten also sowohl eine Geometrie als auch ein Material für die Elektroden gefunden werden, die eine möglichst geringe Erosion versprechen. Hierzu wurden Brennspuren- und optischen Untersuchungen sowie Lebensdauertests durchgeführt. Einerseits wurden Schalter mit drei, fünf, sechs und sieben Entladekanälen untersucht. Wegen Problemen mit der synchronen Triggerung aller Kanäle scheinen aber nach wie vor drei Kanäle eine optimale Anzahl zu sein. Andererseits konnte durch eine Verlängerung des Plasma-Laufweges bei konstanter Strompulslänge zwar eine Erosionsminimierung an einem 3-Kanal-Schalter festgestellt werden, jedoch wird durch einen längeren Strompuls dieser Effekt vernichtet. Durch eine geometrische Veränderung des radialen Schalters kann also die Lebensdauer nicht erhöht werden. Neben Messing (Ms) und Molybdän (Mo) als Elektrodenwerkstoff wurde, basierend auf den Ergebnissen früherer Untersuchungen, auch Siliziumkarbid (SiC) verwendet. Ein Vergleich zweier Tests bei 500 kA, einmal mit Mo und einmal mit SiC als Elektrodenmaterial, zeigt, daß bei Mo eine Entladung in Form eines Metalldampfbogens vorzuliegen scheint und im Gegensatz
