Unknown Words / Palabras desconocidas includes poems written from 2012 to 2020, the same period in which the author has resided in the United States.
It is simultaneously an exploration of forms and a reflection on poetry in two languages: his native Mexican Spanish and the English he has been immersed since he came to live to New York City, assimilated through the readings of classic and contemporary American and English authors, and by his experience translating a cluster of poets from Mexico and The United States for Darklight Publishing.
Roberto Mendoza Ayala considers that the works included here are those that talk best about his integration into a language and a country different from his, and also delve best in writing itself, considering it as concept and form at the same time, breaking down the act of writing until reaching to its source: the contrast.
Unknown Words / Palabras desconocidas, is the 18th title of Darklight's "Bridges" poetry series edited in bilingual format and translated from Spanish by Arthur Gatti and Roberto Mendoza Ayala; it contains beautiful illustrations and a cover designed by the graphic Mexican artist Alonso Venegas Gómez.

Es al mismo tiempo una exploración de formas y una reflexión sobre la poesía en dos idiomas: su español mexicano nativo y el inglés en el que ha estado inmerso desde que llegó a vivir a la ciudad de Nueva York, asimilado a través de lecturas de autores clásicos y contemporáneos estadounidenses e ingleses, y por su experiencia traduciendo a un cúmulo de poetas de México y los Estados Unidos para Darklight Publishing.
Roberto Mendoza Ayala considera que las obras aquí incluidas son las que mejor hablan de su integración a una lengua y un país diferentes a los suyos, y que se adentran mejor en la escritura misma, considerándola como concepto y forma a la vez, desglosando el acto de la escritura hasta llegar a su origen: el contraste.
