About the Book

Meet up again with all the characters in the first book "The Skimming Stone", the children Archie and Ally, Signet the good wizard and Vastator a malevolent entity. In the first book Vastator causes mayhem when he believes that the magical stone given to Archie by Signet is the philosopher's stone that will give him eternal life. Archie and Ally are sent back in time to the Second World War to stop him. In the sequel, Signet is showing the children the underground temple which he guards when a unicorn called Aloric materialises asking for Signet's help. Signet reluctantly tells the children about the Unicorn's home, the planet Altair where all the mythical creatures of this world live. They do not consider themselves strange and co-exist harmoniously in their different tribes. They are a highly advanced community and either visit two planets who are as advanced as themselves or two primitive planets to carry out their "Serai" which will give them citizenship of Altair. They mix quite freely with the inhabitants of the advanced planets but on the primitive planets such as Earth, or Terra as they call it, they are supposed to remain hidden or disguised. Of course this is not always possible and they are occasionally seen which has led to the many mythical creatures that exist in every race on Earth. The mythical creatures are in great danger as there is a strange sickness sweeping through the capital city, and many of them are dying. Signet goes off with Aloric, to help the Altarians using their extremely sophisticated means of space travel.. Archie and Ally left behind in the sewers decide to explore before they leave. They overhear two men, in the sewers going over their plans to rob a bank of two precious Faberge eggs by tunnelling through from the sewers. Then they almost bump into the evil Vastator and realise he is somehow involved with the mysterious plague besetting the Altarians.Archie and Ally, together with their friend Zonah are sucked into a whirlpool of intrigue, magic, space travel and danger, as they try to stop both Vastator and the bank robbers. Helped by Rufus, the contact Signet gave them in case they needed help, and the magical gift he bestowed upon them, can they foil Vastator before he destroys Altair and can they rescue and retrieve the stolen Faberge eggs? In the end when all the characters are thrown together in the underground temple who will emerge as the victor? And will good win over wickedness and criminality?
