This book is a story about young men risking their lives in helping settle Texas after the Civil War.Asked to do something that had never been done before, go undercover as a Ranger.It is a very violent, shotgun bloody tale but it is told just the way things were at this time.Texas was broke and needed the railroads to come in but would not until the killers, raiders, and just dirty outlaws were cleaned out.It has R-rated sex but no F-words are used.Texas also wanted barbwire to be used and all of the large ranchers were against this, but the railroads needed water for the steam engines so cattle could be shipped to the lucrative northern markets.And no one else but a few men would know that these men were Rangers, and being so young helped in this dangerous missi
About the Author: Born in Edna, Tx in !940 and Pop was a foreman on the railroad so we moved around a bit. Started school in Victoria, Tx-Crescent-Goliad-and El Campo in 1950 to 1956. Graduated from Poth, Tx.Moved to El Campo, Tx and worked and my brother Dan and I started Pop's old band, The Blue Blazers.My family and I have always been in music as I played the Schlumberger reunion in 2012 down at Padre Is. South with my keyboard. Pop played the 1949 prom at the Patti Waelder school in Victoria and we played the Crescent dance in 1960.Went to work for Schlumberger Oil Co. in 1961 in Alice, Tx. to 1971 working the last six years in Mexico and the King ranch when transfered to Morgan City, La.Working 1971 to 1976, strictly offshore open hole as a Sr. Operator and then the last four yrs. as a trouble shooter when he moved back to Tx. Designed a uranium well cleaning system in 1981 and did it for four years or so. Was on the inventors list of the U. S. at the time. Was in an oilfield accident in 1990 and in therapy for seven years but was still disabled. Started buying up old houses that needed repairs and learned how to owner finance with Bobby Homeyers help.The bank still talks to me and still have rent houses.
