En medio de un viento fuerte y de varios truenos que estremecían todo a su alrededor, ella oía poemas bastante tristes.Recitados por un hombre borracho que estaba sentado cerca de la estación, los versos que a veces eran acompañados por los acordes de una guitarra desafinada hablaban de nostalgia y de tragedia. Sin embargo, quizás su poesía mórbida tuviese más sentido de lo que aparentaba, pero intentaba rescatar un pasado en el que él había sido feliz, tenía un empleo y, sobre todo, no estaba entregado a la adicción al alcohol.Instantes después, fuertes pasos comenzaron a resonar por la estación del tren, dejando a Milena muy asustada. Sin embargo, era bastante improbable que aquel ruido ensordecedor fuese provocado por el poeta borracho, que difícilmente tendría condiciones físicas de levantarse del asfalto duro y frío.Al llegar finalmente al andén poco antes de la medianoche, la chica de diecisiete años de edad no sabía si aún pasaría algún tren o si ella necesitaría esperar en aquel lugar aterrador hasta que amaneciese, cuando entonces conseguiría regresar a la casa de sus padres.En el momento en que el tren llegó arañando las ruedas de acero sobre las vías oscuras y heladas, la chica se alivió un poco. Más aterrador, sin embargo, que darse cuenta de que él iba en la dirección contraria a la que ella deseaba, fue ver que un hombre siniestro aparecía amenazadoramente en lo alto de la escalera mecánica.Sus pasos continuaban haciendo eco en la estación desierta, pero ahora el hombre vestido de negro comenzaba a bajar por la escalera mecánica. El tren con destino a Porto Alegre finalmente llegaba, haciendo que la chica desesperada corriese en su dirección.Sin embargo, el hecho de que las puertas insistiesen en no abrirse indicaba que una madrugada de terror, pero también de nuevos descubrimientos, recién comenzaba.Después de algunos interminables segundos, el tren comenzó a moverse, dejando en el andén sombrío al hombre que inexplicablemente llevaba una fotografía de la joven en las manos.Aparentemente a salvo, Milena aún desconocía todos los peligros que la rodeaban y, sobre todo, ignoraba las cosas buenas y malas que el destino le había reservado.Observación: Escrito y lanzado en formato impreso en el año 1995, este libro es ambientado en la misma década y la historia se desarrolla en las ciudades de Canoas y de Porto Alegre, estado de Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil.
