Längst beherrscht sie alle modernen Medien, es gibt kaum eine Möglichkeit, über einen Tag hinweg keine Musik zu hören, egal ob bewusst oder unbewusst. Das wirkt sich natürlich auch auf den Musikgeschmack des Einzelnen aus. Ist Musikgeschmack wirklich noch individuell? Durch welche äußeren Faktoren wird er beeinflusst? Noch vor einigen Jahrzehnten gab es für viele Menschen nicht die Bandbreite an Möglichkeiten, Musik zu hören. Zum einen lag das darin begründet, dass die Technik noch nicht so weit fortgeschritten war und viele Menschen nur ein Radio ihr Eigen nannten. Mit der Entwicklung von Abspielgeräten für Medien, auf denen Musik gespeichert werden konnte (angefangen mit der Schallplatte über Kassetten, CDs bis hin zur vollständigen Digitalisierung in modernen Formaten wie Mp3) war ein großer Schritt getan. Jeder hat heute die Möglichkeit, seine eigene Sammlung von Musik aufzubauen und je nach Laune abzuspielen. Zum anderen wird Musik mittlerweile instrumentalisiert. Jeder Werbespot im Fernsehen ist mittlerweile mit einer eigens dafür komponierten Melodie oder gar kompletten Stücken versehen, die den Wiedererkennungswert des angepriesenen Produktes steigern. Am 1. August 1981 wurde erstmals der neue Fernsehsender MTV (Music Television) ausgestrahlt1, der den Grundstein für eine richtige Flut an ähnlichen Musiksendern legte. Zum ersten Mal gab es einen Fernsehsender, welcher ausschließlich Musikvideos abspielte. All diese Dinge zeigen, dass es heutzutage zwar sehr einfach ist, an unterschiedlichste Musik zu gelangen, aber es gerade diese Vielfalt sehr schwierig macht, eine eigene Hörer-Individualität zu entwickeln. Diese Seminararbeit stellt die Auswertung einer Umfrage dar, die untersuchen soll, inwieweit äußere Einflüsse für die Gestaltung und auch Änder
