About the Book

This essay sheds light on the types of companies with low profit margins that you should never invest in and also elucidates how low profit margins destroy a business. Moreover, strategies for how to never lose money investing in the equities market are identified and the formula for generating wealth that can predict the future profitability outlook of a company is delineated in this essay. Additionally, how to apply the formula for generating wealth to determine if buying stocks in a company is a worthwhile investment and the unconventional investment strategies for how to afford to retire prematurely without ever having to work for any boss is expounded upon in this essay. Lastly, this essay also meticulously explains how to earn substantial money online so that you can afford to invest in the equities market in the digital era. In spite of their allure, there are ample types of companies that yield low profit margins which you should desist from investing in to safeguard your wealth. Investing in companies subsumed under these least profitable industries can be of dire consequence. Much to the chagrin of the prospective investor, the slightest change to fickle customer behavior or the emergence of an operational bottleneck that a company encounters can culminate in said company succumbing to negative net income. Grocery stores, "lawn and garden equipment and supply stores" (Biery, 2016), motor vehicle dealers, home furnishing stores, furniture stores, beverage manufacturers, merchant wholesalers of miscellaneous durable goods, merchant wholesalers of petroleum products, dealers of building materials and supplies, companies that operate retirement communities and assisted living facilities, merchant wholesalers of grocery products, and companies that support mining activities yield infinitesimal net profit margins of less than 4%. While these types of companies may disappointingly have razor thin profit margins, companies operating oil and gas extraction businesses had even poorer profit margin performances as a result of having negative net profit margins. "Companies operating or developing oil and gas wells (NAICS 2111) comprise the least profitable industry in the U.S., with a negative net profit margin of 7.6 percent based on an analysis of statements for the 12 months ended June 30, according to Sageworks" (Biery, 2016). These types of businesses that sustain themselves off low profit margins often face fierce competition from a copious amount of competitors and heavily rely on sales volume to be able to elicit a profit. Business with low profit margins not only face the threat of encountering hyper competition which adversely impacts their profitability, but also often compete in industries that have low barriers to entry. For example, "grocery stores (NAICS 4451) have a net profit margin, on average, of 2.5%, which lands it on the list of least profitable industries" (Biery, 2016). Low crude oil and natural gas prices have even adversely impacted the profitably of companies involved in activities that support mining. For instance, "support activities for mining (NAICS 2131) is an industry that has also likely suffered from lower prices of oil, since it includes companies that take core samples at prospective drilling and mining sites. This industry had a net profit margin of 0.6 percent in the 12 months ended June 30" (Biery, 2016). Companies involved in the extraction of crude oil and natural gas are operating at an operating loss since the costs of "refining or extracting" (Biery, 2016) crude oil have not changed while the price of crude oil has steeply declined. Investing in companies with low profit margins is a recipe for eliciting a capital loss since their stocks are often stagnant and are highly vulnerable to plunging in value by poor management decisions and an adverse economic climate in which customer spending is reduced. Investing in companies that have infinitesimal profit margins bears a high risk.
