About the Book

Six orphans, while looking at a comic book of fairytales, are suddenly drawn into the drawings. They now only have two dimensions as they enter this two dimensional world, having only height and breadth, but no depth. Their third dimension, however, is not really lost. Instead it becomes visible by giving these six kids special powers. In this land of the comic book world, some people no longer believe in the Artist, but think their whole world came into being by paint dropping randomly onto a canvas. Everyone who comes into this Two-D World from our three dimensional world has special powers-even the animals. By these special powers everyone learns who is good and who is evil. The evil Paint Thinner and his crew are always trying to paint over the artwork. It is the job of these six orphans to join in on the task of removing the inferior paint, so that the real artwork can once again be seen. Only the Great Artist can fully restore his artwork, but he delights in using these kids to do so. In Two-D World, Book Number One of the series: The Drawings of Comic Book World, the girls meet up with a young woman named Ella. Her step-mother and step-sisters have been painted over by the evil Paint Thinner. While looking for the younger boys, the two oldest boys meet a young man named John, who is considering selling his cow for a handful of beans. Along the way, the boys find Hans and Gert, who have been left in the forest by their parents. Their parents have been nearly completely painted over by the evil Paint Thinner. That is the very reason they left their children in the forest. The mission of these six orphans is to learn what they can about this world, find one another, help Hans and Gert escape from the witch (who is an evil person from our three dimensional world), and to get Ella to the ball at the palace. Along with these six orphans, they have with them a dog, a cat, a dove and a frog, who also have special powers, including being able to talk and think like humans. Above all else, they are to get to know the Great Artist and tell others about him.
About the Author: Sally Hull wrote her first novel at age seventeen and has gone on to write over forty books. She writes in a variety of genres, since she enjoys reading a variety of stories. After graduating from Gladwin High School in Michigan, she studied at Toronto Baptist Seminary in Canada, as well as Mid Michigan Community College and Central Michigan University. After a variety of teaching jobs in America, Sally traveled to China to teach English to college students one year and grade school children the following year. She earned her TESOL license as well. After teaching, she returned to writing. Living in Montana with her husband Charlie, who is a photographer and writer in his own right, Sally continues writing, hoping to be an encouragement to others, helping them to know God better. Sally speaks of her book Two-D World: "I love fairy tales! Always have. One day, I simply started writing one, ignoring all rules of writing, without an outline, characters, or even a vague idea of where the story was going. All I knew was that the heroes of the story were orphaned children and would become two-dimensional beings in a comic book of fairy tales. I had bought some spiral notebooks on sale for nineteen cents apiece and was itching to use them. It was in one of these I began writing, just me and my ink pen. Though I now write all of my books on my laptop, I sometimes miss that special way of simply putting pen to paper and watching a whole world unfold in the notebook on my lap. (I don't miss it enough to actually do it whenever my laptop is within reach.) The first chapter practically wrote itself. As I recall, it was written in just one sitting. Some weeks passed, and then I wrote chapter two and the first part of chapter three. And there it sat for years. I carted it around from state to state as I moved, year after year-I even took it with me to China when I became an ESL teacher (English as a Second Language). Finally I moved back to Michigan and one day pulled out the partial manuscript, read what I had already written, and then finished writing it. All in all, it took around twenty years to complete. I hope to write many more in the series, each book being independent of the series. But whether I do or not, at least this one got written and I'm pleased with it. I hope you enjoy it too. Imagine reading a fairy tale and then suddenly finding yourself there..."
