About the Book

Recently, it has become apparent that the lines between fantasy and reality have been seriously distorted for many people in this country. We hear more and more complaints about "fake news" and "post-truth politics," but no one seems to understand how and why this is happening. It seems as if people who read something that don't like for some immediately label it "fake news." This phenomenon is polarizing people in this country more than at any other time in our history, except perhaps in the Vietnam Era. It is responsible for the gridlock we see in Washington and in other state capitals around the country. Democrats and Republicans, who used to have civil relationships with members of the opposition party now cannot seem to agree on the time of day. It seems to be getting worse and the social/political fabric is starting to get very frayed. This book explores why it seems so hard to change your beliefs, even when you realize they are no longer serving you the way you hoped they would. I have written a series of four short books titled, "The Twisted Beliefs Series," that looks at the causes of this strange set of behaviors that we now hear about in the news every day. This first book will help you understand the power of your personal and collective beliefs, how they were formed, and how they can control and distort your perceptions of fantasy and reality. If you are like most people, you formed your core beliefs before the age of 10 and have retained many of these same beliefs as an adult. If your core beliefs are twisted in any way, they can distort your perceptions as an adult of what is real and what is "fake" or fantasy. This can cause you to make poor decisions and engage in repeated self-defeating behaviors. Most people try to do things to help them live happier and more productive lives. If what they are doing isn't working, the natural impulse is to just try harder. They may not even think of examining their core beliefs behind these behaviors and decisions. There are self-quizzes in the book that will help you examine your core beliefs to see if any of them might be twisted. By reading this, you can save lots of time and money, reduce your stress, and preserve your patience and good will. The book shows you how to understand what drives your behavior and how you can change any of your core beliefs that are no longer serving you. People do this all the time. This book will help you do it more effectively with fewer wrong turns. Here is the Table of Contents for this book: Preface Introduction Chapter One: Premature Hardening Of The Categories Chapter Two: What Causes Your Beliefs To Get Twisted? Chapter Three: What Causes Your Beliefs To Get Twisted Chapter Four: What Causes Beliefs To Get Twisted in Human Predators Chapter Five: The Role of Hidden Developmental Trauma in Causing Twisted Beliefs Chapter Six: Healing Developmental Traumas Chapter Seven: Twisted Consciousness Chapter Eight: The Beliefs of the Cultural Creatives Chapter Nine: Twisted Beliefs and The Revival of Social Darwinism Chapter Ten: How I Healed My Twisted Religious and Spiritual Beliefs Preface This book is the first in a series of four books that are designed to deepen your understanding of the current social, cultural and political scene as well as help you examine your core beliefs to see if any of them need to be changed or amended in order to help you live a more productive and happy life. Look for the other books in this series that will be published over the next year. The working titles of the remaining books in the series are as follows: Book Two: The Twisted Beliefs of Life-takers and Human Predators. Book Three: How to Change Your Twisted Beliefs Book Four: Beyond Twisted Beliefs I hope you enjoy reading this books and are able use the material in the books to make positive changes in your life. Good luck with finding the "new you" as a result of reading these books.
