About the Book

Writing in both Spanish and English, Lili Nealon takes us on a journey through Buenos Aires, New York, Kigali, Nazareth and a deserted island called Poitou in story after story that depict humanity at its best and at its worst. Her journey leads us to unknown places, dives deep into our heart and soul, and often brings us to tears.

We experience the hopes of a nine-year old orphan in Rwanda, a young couple facing death in a deserted beach and another hiding their affair in plain sight at the beautiful Colón Opera House in Buenos Aires. There is an arrogant psychiatrist who finds an unpleasant surprise in his perfect office, a baby girl born in Bethlehem with a special mission, a wise woman who tries to save Mother Earth, a young girl alone facing the death of her grandfather, a street vendor who no one notices, a homeless man saved from the wrecking ball and a flood that reveals heroes and villains alike. You will meet spirits, angels and magic wells.

Lili expects a lot from her readers: she leaves them wondering, often with surprising turns. As diverse as these stories are, there is a common thread: deep spirituality, passion and compassion, all salted with a sense of humor.

While the author has lived most of her life in the United States, her writing reflects her multicultural upbringing. Adding to the beauty of the stories, Lili has undertaken the task of writing them in two languages rather than translating.
