.An ex-cop, Arizona private investigator Mack Robertson agrees to help a county supervisor investigate the Pima County Hospital's ability to consistently "lose" five million dollars a year. In doing so, he reveals a political scandal involving millions in drug-trafficking dollars and ruins a violent narc's arrest. Robertson quickly becomes a marked man, forced to flee into the Arizona wilderness.
Hiding out in a half-ruined ranch house, Robertson plans his next move while a hungry mountain lion considers his suitability as its next meal. The crooked cop has killed innocents in the past, but his political connections make the narc untouchable by the law. If justice is to be done, Robertson will have to be the one to mete it out.
The mountain lion isn't the only one stalking Robertson. The narc has vengeance on his mind and is drawing ever closer to the ruined ranch. At the base of a mile-high column of rock in the Arizona desert, justice will be served-or denied. Either way someone will die.
A taut thriller, Twilight of Baboquivari mirrors real-life murders and political scandals experienced by one-time police officer and current private investigator William Heuisler.
About the Author: William Heuisler served as a US marine for four years. He was a demolitions instructor at Quantico Officers Candidate School when the CIA recruited him for Operation Mongoose-the United States' effort to overthrow Fidel Castro.
Heuisler attended Villanova University, the University of Arizona, and Chaparral College, earning his BS in criminal justice. As a member of the Tucson Police Department, he received two commendations in 1973 for breaking up a large business burglary ring. He exposed millions of dollars in political corruptions by Burton Barr, majority leader of the Arizona Legislature-a revelation that ended Barr's bid for governor and led to Heuisler accepting a position as a special investigator for the governor of Arizona.
Heuisler is currently the director of a private investigation agency licensed by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
