Merriam-Websters online dictionary defines Tunnel Vision as a tendency to think only about one thing and to ignore everything else around you. I heard the term for the first time many years ago when my mentor, Mellisa Precious Lee, sought to explain the importance of having Tunnel Vision in ones relationship with GOD.
Tunnel Vision for GOD requires Intense Focus in every area of our spiritual lives and a Militant mindset towards serving HIM and doing HIS will. With this discipline, we can be assured of a victorious life in CHRIST.
In our increasingly distracting world, maintaining absolute and intense focus is not an easy task. Very often, Christians, surrounded by the enemys temptations, are hard-pressed to survive. When I think about fellow Christians today, I immediately think of the words Spiritual Survival. Before we can reflect CHRIST in our endeavours and motivate others to walk in HIS Word, we must be able to ward off and withstand distractions ourselves.
The Christian life is a great test and we must survive spiritually in order to pass that test. When we are placed on this earth in GODS university we are HIS students, HIS Word is our textbook and temptations are our daily test. Continuing with this analogy, our stationery must be prepared, for it is in our words and deeds that we write our stories, and as Christians our stories must be well-written with sharp discipline and a clear focus, if we are to graduate with top honors.
Of course, as mankind, we are all imperfect and our journey through life is filled with lessons taught through mistakes and mentors.
As a growing Christian, I have learnt so much in my journey, Im excited to share my journey with you.
Of course, Im assuming that youre a believer in the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
If you are, you must remain focused if you want to keep your fire for CHRIST burning bright. I have seen too many flames initially spark with potential and then waver and dim after a very short period. As children of GOD we must strive at all times to reflect HIS Word.
If you are not a believer, I want to encourage you to get to know JESUS. Once you get to know GOD personally, surrendering your life to HIM will be the next natural step.
Remember, our time on this earth is short, and the pleasures offered by the world transient, but our walk with GOD can be eternal. The path we walk all depends upon the choices we make. So you can choose Gods precious gems or you can choose to live only in the moment, gambling your eternal inheritance for the cheap baubles of this world. For me, the choice is plain.
When I became a Christian, I saw myself almost being fast forwarded by the HOLY SPIRIT. HE was always with me.
Before I got saved, I focused primarily on myself, my abilities and on my journey to greatness as a footballer, but as soon as I had a personal encounter with JESUS, HE became my primary focus. The second chapter of this book talks about understanding our identity in CHRIST which is crucial in living A Set Apart Life. Once we fall in love with JESUS, everything else in our lives will be in alignment.
To my brothers and sisters in CHRIST, my prayer is that you learn to stand strong spiritually, prepared to face all the trials and temptations that will come your way as a young believer. I also pray that you always make the right choices, resisting the devil and growing into all that GOD would have you to be. Know that you are never alone. GOD is always with you. HE has already gone before you and has prepared a path that HE desires for you to take. Dont leave HIM because HE will never leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
