About the Book

If this book is not the most important piece of writing in the last 1600 years, then it is worthless trash; it's either pure gold or fool's gold. There is no middle ground. The author presents it as finest gold; its readers must determine if it is gold or fool's gold for them. The book explores how truth influences freedom. It contends that any untruth deliberately told is told to control the actions of others. Liars are controllers and anyone who willingly or unwillingly does what others want him to do is effectively a slave of the ones who control him. The issue is freedom versus slavery; that slavery can be avoided only by those who know and act upon the truth. This is not a perfect book, nor is it an easy read. It is an instruction manual for those willing to do the work of learning how to find truth and live free. Some have said it is three books in one and that it is. The first two chapters introduce propaganda as the method of control and suggest ways to protect against it. Chapters III through VI introduce the author's approach to extracting truth from a mass of information. Chapter VII consists of the author's musing about what it would be like if all lived by the truth they find. One of this book's imperfections comes from the author's unawareness of the role of psychological manipulation in controlling masses leading to his not addressing that important aspect of propaganda. And he did not know it was Augustine 1600 years ago, not Calvin 600 years ago, who introduced serious errors into Christian teaching and preaching. Though it is not perfect, it does present an unimpeachable method for extracting truth from a mass of evidence. The price is low, the potential for gain is great, all who would be free are encouraged to spend its small price for what may be for them "a treasure hidden in a field," "a pearl of great price."
About the Author: Les Huntley is one of those unusual people who having no concept of their limitations often succeed in areas where they have no training. As a young man he noticed the local builder was a man who spent his evenings in the bars and his days fighting hangovers and decided if such a man could build houses, he could too. Starting with nothing but an idea, he proceeded to build a three bedroom ranch from scratch, from plans to completion, a building that continues to provide housing more than 50 years later. Being employed with the National Bureau of Standards with new BS-Physics in hand, he was soon assigned a task then thought to be impossible, developing a way to reliably measure resistance at high frequencies. Being unaware of the many reasons why that could not be done, he soon recognized an existing instrument could be adapted for the purpose, producing an instrument used continuously in NBS calibration services until replaced by a computerized alternative some 40 years later, and resulting in his first published paper. After retiring at the end of his 30+ years as an electrical measurements specialist, he continued to provide consulting services in the discipline. When health issues led him to realize he was no longer reliably serving his clients, he closed the business and began to search for other challenges to occupy his mind. The idea of writing and publishing books and articles appealed to him, and it did not take long for him to realize the publishing industry would not be receptive to his offerings. At age 80, he found himself questioning the wisdom of going into the publishing business himself. Did it really make sense for an 80 year old to invest time, money and effort in such an enterprise? Again, typically unaware of the challenges facing him, he decided it was far better to die doing something he loved than to sit around waiting for death and wishing he had tried it. Encouraged by the fact that Moses was 80 when God called him to rescue Israel from Egypt, and that Sarah was 90 when she bore her first child, he established Intermountain North Publishing to publish books he and others had written. "Truth &Freedom A Match Made in Heaven" is the second Intermountain North Publishing offering. The first was "A Nice Car, A Good Woman, A Little Fun Every Day", a nice little collection of stories about growing up in the 1920s and 1930s, co-authored by a 101 year old friend and his 97 year old wife. Both are available on Amazon and CreateSpace.
