About the Book

Trojan Warriors is a true story of two brothers, Michael and David Clarke, who are brought up in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England. They became criminals in the 60's and were sent to prison for malicious wounding and carrying a fire arm without a license, in 1967. They both turned from their lives of crimes in remarkable ways but some 25 years apart, and then they worked together helping other prison inmates, on their own roads of reformation. David the younger brother became a Christian, after a bad experience on LSD, in 1970, and then went on to educate himself and then on to Higher Education. He became a baptist minister and taught electronics for over 20 years, in colleges of Higher and Further Education. Michael however remained untouched and continued his flamboyant life style ending up serving a 16 year prison sentence, in the Philippines, in 1996, where he died of tuberculosis in 2005. When David heard the news of his brothers arrest on an ITN television news bulletin he felt compelled to wrote their story. And then when he heard of his own brothers conversion from crime to Christ, after serving 5 year of his sentence, he published their story in his book, "Converted on LS Trip", and directed a mission of help to the Philippines to assist his brother. This book tells the story of this mission. They then worked together with many former notorious criminals, who were inmates in New Bilibid Prison, who too had become Christians and turned their lives around. This help was to train them to become preachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ . This book contains the 66 testimonies of some of these men who convicted former criminals, incarcerated in New Bilibid Prison. They are the, "Trojan Warriors", who had turned their lives around and from crime to Christ. Twenty two of these testimonies are men who are on Death Row scheduled to be executed by lethal injection. Revelation 12 verse 11: And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives unto the death.
About the Author: David Clarke was educated and trained as a lecturer, at Wolverhampton Polytechnic, and graduated with a Certificate in Education that was awarded by Birmingham University, in 1978. David (1949) and his brother Michael (1946) were born in Oldham, Lancashire but grew up in Aylesbury, during the 60's, and they were MOD's, but they became criminals and were sentence to prison for malicious wounding and carrying a fire arm without a license. On the 16th January 1970, David had a bad trip on LSD, during which time he called out to God to help him and Jesus spoke to him. He turned from crime to Christ over night and learned to read to educate himself. He went on to Higher Education and for the next 14 years read the bible, various classical christian literature and joined the Bierton Strict and Particular Baptists. He became a lecturer in electronics, the church secretary and was called by the Lord and sent by the church to preach. The Bierton Church was a Gospel Standard listed cause. Michael, Davids brother was unaffected by David's conversion and continued his flamboyant style. In 1995 David got news of his brothers arrest in the Philippines. It was then David felt compelled to write their story. It was in 1999 when David got news of his brothers conversion from crime to Christ, which was 5 years into his 16 year prison sentence he published their story in, "Converted on LSD Trip". Michael too had become a Christian as a result of reading C.S. Lewis's book, Mere Christianity. It was then David went on a mission of help to his brother who was serving time in New Bilibid Maximum Security Prison in the Philippines in order to bring relief and help to Michael, David's brother. On that mission, that was called Trojan Horse, they preached the gospel to hundreds of convicted criminals, including many on Death Row. This story is told in their joint book "Trojan Warriors" that contains 66 life giving testimonies, of some of the most notorious criminals in Far East Asia, within New Bilibid Prison. Twenty two of these men were on Death Row scheduled to be executed by lethal injection. "And he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes which they had taken": Luke 5 verse 9.
