About the Book

English synopsis Triumvirate is the second adventure in the saga of the first Hispanic detective, Nelson Montero, the sufficiently likable main protagonist in Volver a Morir. The case of the mysterious disappearance of Joel Goldman, affectionately known as "The Wizard" guru of the NYSE, one of three partners who own the successful worldwide chain of Japanese restaurants Kaibun, favored and regularly frequented by movie stars and superstar music icons, will plunge Nelson Montero into the underworld of dirty money, corruption and prostitution which runs rampant in Miami Beach, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The investigation will lure the detective and his sidekick, Hacker Teo Osorio, to the obscure secret ways of Santeria of Calle 8 and the billionaires of the exclusive developments of Indian Creek and Cocoplum. It will also take him to the Caribbean island of Belize not before passing by the selected university of Harvard in Boston. This time accompanied by Nico, the young manager of the Kaibun restaurants and Lt. Dolores Vega, Nelson will cross paths with countless characters like the other two millionaire partners of the Kaibun chain: Angel Cuervo, "The Doctor", of Cuban descent, who scams Medicare with his network of clinics and, David Rey, "The Erect" mestizo, a ladies man, real estate developer, and close personal friend of President Obama, who pays politicians, judges, and anyone to get building and liquor permits and licenses to open restaurants worldwide. Nelson always finds himself surrounded by colorful characters in all of this investigations, such as his group for playing cards at Bar Basque, the immortal Santero Facundo Son, beautiful women who live double lives and of course, Genoveva Rocamador, the widow he tries to avoid at all costs because she makes his heart beat much too fast.
