Prólogo Por Brenda Ortiz Nevarez Transversándome es una vibrante antología literaria autobiográfica del joven puertorriqueño José García. Destacado activista social, en el trasfondo histórico de la Isla, entre finales del siglo XX de todo lo que va del XXI. Enmarcado en una zona marginada riopedrense de la capital, rodeada de limitaciones económicas y de violencia. Desventajas sociales que fueron superadas, primero por el cariño familiar, y luego por la fe religiosa, la educación musical, la Universidad de Puerto Rico, pero en especial, por la conciencia social desarrollada gracias al activismo político y la lucha por la igualdad. El texto es un recuento de vida paralelo a la producción literaria poética del protagonista, el mismo autor. La actividad vital del autor va madurando y creciendo en sabiduría, a través de duras y dolorosas experiencias. Ese crecimiento se va manifestando, de manera ascendente, mediante la producción literaria, donde la poesía juega el papel mayoritario. El proceso de desarrollo humano del autor, crea un hilo narrativo auténtico, original. Provoca que el lector se identifique con él, independientemente del sexo, edad, nacionalidad y creencias. De un niño y adolescente influenciado por el cristianismo protestante, crece y madura para transformarse en un joven adulto socialista, revolucionario e irreverente. Irreverencia que constituye su liberación y verdadera redención. Algunas de sus líneas leen: "Pasa el tiempo y continúo despegándome de esas ideas ortodoxas, no tan solo remanentes del judeo cristianismo, sino del mismo marxismo fundamentalista, positivista y moralista. Y me voy construyendo en versos, voy transversándome... Y comienzan mis poemas a sentirse libres, libres de culpa, libres de sentimientos frustrados, libres de ser." Transversándome es un excelso homenaje a todos los marginados sociales en Puerto Rico y en todo el mundo.
