About the Book

Environmental degradation is one of the major challenges directly related to the livelihood and survival of earth's flora and fauna, including human being. The deterioration of the environment is taking place through exhaustion of natural resources, such as air, water and soil, the destruction of ecosystem and the extinction of wild life. The issue has been put forward and discussed in different of platforms national and international - by people ranging from students to scientists and statesmen. Despite all these positive efforts, the environmental problems are assuming the dimensions of a crisis.This book "Towards a Humane Environment" has been evolved from the deliberations of a national seminar on this theme held at NSS College, Nilamel, Kerala. The seventeen seminal essays in this volume covers various aspects of environment and ecology. The contributors of this volume include experts in various areas like science, social science, environmental science, law, literature and social activism. The papers included in this volume will provide a fresh look on environmental issues to the readers.

About the Author

R. Rajeevan Professor in Political Science, NSS College, Nilamel, Kerala. He did his Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Kerala with III rank and M.A in Public Administration with 1st class. He completed his M. Phil and Ph.D. degrees from the same university. He has twenty years of teaching experience in various colleges of Kerala under the University of Calicut, and the University of Kerala. He is a life member of various associations like South India American Studies Network and Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. He was also a resource person at State Council of Educational Research and Training, Government of Kerala. He is also member of Board of Studies, University of Kerala and judge of youth parliament competition in Kerala state, organised by Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala as per the guidelines of Government of India. He had also undertaken a UGC Research Project. He has contributed several papers in reputed academic journals and edited volumes. He has also presented papers at various national and international conferences and edited two books.
