Sur leurs goélettes ou leurs vedettes à moteur, ces êtres sans scrupules se livrent à tous les trafics, vendant aussi bien des hommes que des armes, au mépris de toute loi, de toute humanité. C'est à une de ces bandes de forbans que Bob Morane se heurtera cette fois. Ni les coups, ni les dangers de toutes sortes ne lui seront épargnés, mais il y fera face avec son courage habituel, afin de faire une fois de plus triompher le droit. Une aventure trépidante, pleine de suspense qui, d'île en île, de cargos à goélettes, opposera le commandant Morane aux criminels trafiquants des Caraïbes. Et Henri Vernes, qui connaît cette mer des Caraïbes comme sa poche pour y avoir bourlingué dans tous les sens, vous la fera voir... comme si vous y étiez. Qu'un homme soit assailli par son frère jumeau alors qu'il ne possède pas de frère jumeau, ni même de frère du tout, cela pourrait paraître étrange. Mais quand on sait que le terrible Monsieur Ming, mieux connu sous le surnom d'Ombre Jaune, tire les ficelles, cela ne manque pas de devenir inquiétant. Londres avec ses brouillards, ses quartiers sinistres, ses docks mal famés, sera le théâtre de cette nouvelle aventure de Bob Morane qui, toujours au service de l'humanité, n'hésitera pas à se lancer au-devant des plus grands périls pour tenter de vaincre définitivement Monsieur Ming. Il sait s'assurer le concours d'alliés redoutables. Quels seront-ils cette fois ? Bob Morane a certes lutté déjà contre beaucoup d'adversaires, mais jamais contre lui-même. Bien des surprises vous attendent sur les berges de la River... quand l'Ombre Jaune mène la danse. Un simple hold-up dans une librairie des Grands Boulevards parisiens peut paraître un fait banal en soi. Il l'est moins quand les lumières se promènent toutes seules à travers cette librairie, que les voleurs dérobent uniquement quinze exemplaires du même livre scolaire et que Bob Morane se trouve, comme par hasard, mêlé à l'affaire. Si la formule X 33 tombait entre des mains peu scrupuleuses, cela risquerait de provoquer, dans un bref avenir un joli feu d'artifice. Et c'est ce que Morane, aidé par son ami Bill Ballantine, tente d'empêcher. Mais, pris entre plusieurs services d'espionnage étrangers qui se disputent le redoutable secret, Bob aura bien du mal à tirer son épingle du jeu. Surtout que, de nos jours, avec les progrès de la science, les espions ont plus d'un tour dans leur sac et qu'ils arrivent même à se rendre... invisibles. Mais le courage de Bob Morane et un vulgaire pistolet à peinture peuvent parfois faire des miracles... et préserver une paix trop souvent menacée.
