Und dann ist da der neue Kompanieführer, dieser taufrische Leutnant Schütz. Der Feldwebel befürchtet, dass Schütz nur auf Orden aus ist und den Ernst der Lage noch nicht begriffen hat. Wird er die Kompanie auf der Jagd nach Auszeichnungen sinnlos in den Tod schicken?
