Los ocho testimonios aquí reunidos son de trabajadores que vivieron su juventud en la Córdoba de los 60-70. Dirigentes del sindicalismo combativo, militantes perseverantes o compañeros de cárceles y exilios del Gringo Tosco describen la cotidianeidad obrera y las pasiones que se jugaban en la calle, en las tomas, en las salidas de la fábrica. Relatos impresionistas donde el trabajo diario se impregna de sensaciones y olores, de dudas, de sorpresas, de compañerismo y de ausencias.

En un lugar común presumiría que no es fácil escribir un libro sobre sindicalismo y lograr que sea interesante, que lo atraviese el suspenso, la intriga, el acecho de la muerte, el estallido de la risa. Sin embargo, pocas memorias tan tramadas por esos elementos como las de quienes aquí prestan testimonio. Acompañan las entrevistas una breve caracterización del contexto socio histórico que sitúa al lector y una selección de fotografías inéditas que dan carnadura a los relatos. El país cumple 200 años. El Cordobazo cumplió 40. En ese contexto, la memoria de los trabajadores recogidas en estas páginas es una toma de posición. Y el señalamiento de una afinidad electiva: la trama que tiene como hito al Cordobazo es uno de los capítulos más luminosos de ese relato ficcional que es la Patria. Pero es, sobre todo, la modalidad de Córdoba a la que suscribimos.
