La tormenta está fuera es también un testimonio que da voz a la inmensa colectividad que ha dejado el territorio insular en busca de nuevos horizontes.

About the Author: José Acosta nació en Santiago, República Dominicana, en 1964. Es poeta, narrador y comunicador social. Desde 1995 reside en Nueva York, donde dirige el Departamento de Literatura y Prensa del Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura de la República Dominicana. Ha ganado en seis ocasiones el Premio Nacional de Literatura de la República Dominicana, el más importante del país. En 1994 su poemario Territorios extraños recibió el Premio Nacional de Poesía "Salomé Ureña de Henríquez" y en 1997 obtuvo el Premio Internacional de Poesía Odón Betanzos Palacios de Nueva York con la obra Destrucciones. Su poemario El evangelio según la Muerte obtuvo en 2003 el Premio Internacional de Poesía "Nicolás Guillén", de México, y ese mismo año otro poemario suyo quedó finalista del Premio Internacional de Poesía "Miguel de Cervantes", de Armilla, en España. Entre sus ga-lardones figuran también una mención de honor en el Cuarto Concurso Internacional de Poesía "La Porte des Poètes", en París, Francia (1994), y en 1998 ganó la Mención en Poesía de la Bienal Latinoamericana de Literatura "José Rafael Pocaterra" celebrada en Valencia, Venezuela. Como narrador ha recibido numerosos premios, entre ellos el Premio Nacional de Cuento Universidad Central del Este (2000), con El efecto dominó; el Premio Nacional de Novela (2005), con Perdidos en Babilonia y el Premio Nacional de Cuento (2005), con Los derrotados huyen a París. En 2010, una novela suya estuvo entre las 10 finalistas del XV Premio Fernando Lara de Novela, de la editorial Planeta. En 2011, fue finalista del Premio Internacional de Cuento Juan Rulfo, de Francia, y ese mismo año volvió a ganar el Premio Nacional de Novela con La Multitud. En 2015 obtuvo el Premio Casa de las Américas, de Cuba, en la categoría de Literatura Latinoamericana en los Estados Unidos, con la novela Un kilómetro de mar, y el Premio Nacional de Poesía "Salomé Ureña de Henríquez", con el poemario Viaje al día venidero. En 2016, a su libro de cuentos, El patio de los bramidos, le otorgaron el Premio Nacional de Cuentos "José Ramón López".
