In una terra meta di studiosi e di cacciatori di reperti provenienti da tutto il mondo, Na'im segue fin da bambino l'archeologo Howard Carter nella sua ostinata ricerca della tomba del Dimenticato, crescendo diviso tra la volontà di riscatto dalla propria condizione, la lealtà verso il fratello con il mondo che rappresenta e l'ombra degli antichi dei che ancora aleggia sulla Valle dei Re.

La tomba del canarino è l'ultima parte della serie dedicata al faraone Tutankhamon. Nasce dal connubio tra fatti storici (la quasi totalità dei protagonisti della vicenda - canarino compreso - sono realmente esistiti), congetture degli egittologi (ho abbracciato la teoria secondo la quale Howard Carter era già a conoscenza almeno dal 1919 della presenza di una tomba nel sito dove poi effettivamente è stata rinvenuta quella di Tutankhamon) e, naturalmente, la mia fantasia (espressa tramite il personaggio di Na'im, un ipotetico figlio del caposquadra e amico di Carter Ahmed Gurgar, voce narrante di questa storia).
