About the Book

This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to cultivate some of the best tomato's you have ever seen.Tomato cultivation has been long overlooked by many people who decide to venture into lucrative agriculture as beginners. This somewhat ignored vegetable fruit has remained a needed ingredient for the preparation of varieties of meals in USA, UK and across the globe. This means that an average person cannot consciously go a day without eating a yummy meal prepared with tomatoes.Despite its ignored state by new farmers, tomato is currently grown by over 200,000 farmers in USA whom collectively grow over 2.5 million metric tons of tomatoes each year. Its potential is even higher in African continents like Nigeria; ac country with a population of 170 million, predicted to exceed 400 million by the year 2050. You can begin farming tomatoes for profit today. The tomato is a warm season crop that requires cool and warm climate to grow well. It can be consumed raw, and cooked as a fruit or vegetable.Tomatoes are the most popular vegetable to grow in the home garden. It can be great fun growing your own tomatoes, and you can get an even deeper satisfaction by growing your own from seeds. Growing tomatoes from seeds is very easy to do, and also extremely cost effective especially if you use your own that you've cultivated from the previous year. With a little forward planning and by putting into practice some of these beginners tips, you will make a big success of your new tomato plants. From North to south, and coast to coast, tomatoes are consistently the most popular vegetable in American gardens. But for most gardeners, just any old tomato won't do.Some like them red, some like them yellow, orange or even purple. Some prefer tomatoes as tiny as a dime, and some want them as big as a melon. Some like them juicy, some like them dense and pulpy. Fortunately, there are more than 700 different tomato varieties in cultivation today. Plenty of choices for everyone. If you're trying to decide which tomato varieties to grow, here's what you should think about: Disease resistanceGrowth habitTime to maturityFlavor and textureDisease resistance is important, because tomatoes are vulnerable to a number of diseases that can weaken the plant and reduce yields. Look at the seed packet or plant label to see if the variety has resistance to verticillium and fusarium wilt, two very common soil-borne diseases that affect tomatoes. Resistance to these diseases is designated by a V or F after the variety name. If tomatoes in your region suffer from root-knot nematode (N), Tobacco Mosaic virus (T) or Alternaria (A), look for resistance to these diseases as well. Late blight is a problem in many areas, so choose a variety that's resistant. When to Start Tomato SeedsThe best time to start tomato plants from seeds is about six to eight weeks before you plan on planting them out into your garden. For areas that get frost, plan on planting out your tomato seedlings two to three weeks after your last frost, so you will start growing tomatoes from seed at four to six weeks before your last frost date.
