Ever since I was a young girl, I loved the idea of getting lost in a sea of words. To me, they were a way to escape life, experience wild and wondrous adventures, and explore deep emotions and the expansiveness of the universe. Often times, I would run across a sentence or two, or perhaps even a phrase, that stopped my flow and forced me to ponder its meaning. What began as an opportunity to dive into the author's mind opened up a portal into my own. What did the words on the page mean to me? What impact could it possibly have on my own life and what would I do with it? What astounded me even more was that re-reading those same words years later evoked different emotions, thoughts and beliefs in me. Was it possible the words changed? Was it possible that I made a mistake in my youth of interpreting its meaning? What I learned was that I had changed. And in my own evolution, the same words I read, and often times re-read over and over again held new meaning for me. I had grown and experienced life just a little more and I was a different person, even from the prior day. So when I read the words, it offered me a chance to reassess my life from the vantage point of the here and the now. It offered new insight and inspiration to me and it challenged me to continue on my path of self-reflection and self-awareness. There is power in writing your thoughts down allowing you to accelerate your level of self-awareness and consciousness.
