To consider yourself a person who knows the world, you must first know the tiny truth of this little treatise, the tiny truth that governs it all. Though the words in this treatise may modify your view of yourself and the world, they do not constitute a philosophy per se (though some might say it opens the door to one); nor do they in any way constitute a religion or a belief system, a prediction or a prophecy; they are, basically, a simple, objective statement of fact that you will acknowledge, or deny, according to how the you that you are came to be.
About the Author: I am a retired, art director, creative director, copywriter, graphic designer, photographer and illustrator, working in advertising, packaging, sales promotion and publishing, and, on the way, winning numerous major awards (including CLIOs) in all the above disciplines. But that was all later; I began my career as a comic book illustrator/writer --a short six-month stint that was derailed by the Korean War and a senate investigation into the overuse of sex and violence in comic books (which was tame by today's standards). I was able to use my illustration skills during my four years in the Air Force, but by the time I was discharged from the service, the comic book publishing industry had been seriously reduced because of the bad publicity generated by the senate investigation. By a stroke of great luck, when I was discharged and couldn't get work, I applied for Unemployment Insurance at the local New York City office. They sent me to their employment division, where I was interviewed by the angel that, figuratively speaking, saved my life. She convinced me that I should give up on comic books and get into advertising. After I acceded (grudgingly), she got me a job at a small advertising agency, a month later she told me to quit my job because she had a better job for me at a large printing company. She did this every month for one year, at the end of which I had a wider knowledge of the advertising industry than almost anyone else working in it. From there she let me fly on my own to my more than fifty year career in advertising and publishing as a winner of numerous major awards (including CLIOs) for graphic design, copywriting, photography, illustration, art direction, creative direction, and as a partner in two small but highly creative ad agencies. My angels name was Ms. Miracle. On a personal note: I am married, we have three sons, and 11 grandchildren, one of whom sadly died before he had a chance to be what he could be.
