Ms Odette Mascarenhas, COO of OnM Creative Consultants, is a Management Consultant, author, food critic, columnist, TV anchor (on the local channel Goa 365) as well as co founder of the Goan Culinary Club (Goa chapter). She is the winner of Gourmand World Cookbook Award 2008, the special Jury award for the book on her father-in-law Masci — The Man Behind the Legend.In 2004, after watching a documentary on the centenary year of the Taj, she authored her first book — a biography of the first Goan Executive Chef — Masci…Miguel Arcanjo Mascarenhas. The book was titled Masci — The Man Behind the Legend, which ultimately won the 'Special Jury Award; from Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2008. She has also been selected as the Unsung Entrepreneur of India, a title awarded to those who have achieved things in life…an initiative of CNBC TV18 and Lufthansa. On the local front, she has been awarded the 'Certification of Appreciation' (GCCI), for her literary efforts. Besides two books for 'tweens' — the Alfie Alphonso series, she has authored four books on food. Her other books include A Culinary Escapade of Goa — a travel food guide on the different talukas of Goa, Goan recipes and More…a recipe book on preparations from local Goan kitchens. Her recent book The Culinary Heritage of Goa, released at Goa's Litfest showcases lifestyles of the locals pre Independence (before 1960). It also traces the different influences over the centuries that have impacted Goan cuisine. This coffee table styled book also documents 100 + long forgotten researched recipes, perhaps not prepared in any restaurants today.
