About the Book

Bruce B. Wilmer's heartfelt and accessible poetry has been read and appreciated by millions worldwide for over 36 years. TIME CRIES, A POET'S RESPONSE TO 9/11/01, is his collection of poems written in response to the horrific events of 9/11/01 and the ongoing struggle to come to terms with the implications of that day. The poems recount the immediate aftermath of that tragic morning and describe certain key events in the months and years following. They pay tribute to the heroes who nobly defined courage at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in the air. With powerful images, the author paints an unforgettable picture of 9/11 and puts it in a context of pain, recovery, remembrance and hope. Many of the poems will resonate far beyond that day and its trail of memories into countless other situations where the unexpected takes hold of life and challenges the human spirit to continue moving forward. Bruce B. Wilmer is a native New York poet who has chronicled people's emotions and feelings through his original poetry products and books since 1974. His immense gratitude and honor for those who served, coupled with great compassion for the loved ones left behind, make the reading of this book an intensely moving experience. He hopes it will play a small part in the healing process and provide the searching spirit with another modest tool for survival.
About the Author: Bruce B. Wilmer is a native Long Islander, raised in Manhasset, NY, who in 1976 decided to pursue his improbable dream of turning his avocation of writing poetry into a livelihood by forming his own publishing company with his wife, Sydney, a former teacher. Residing and working in Huntington, NY, until 2003, when the two of them relocated their company to an 11,000 square foot facility in North Carolina, he has continued to pursue his writer's dream and broadened his creative perspective living in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Starting out with a pair of obsolete Chandler-Price letter presses, which the two bought at auction in 1976, they published Bruce's poem about their newborn baby and sold it in hospitals and gift shops in personalized form. That initial poem has grown to more than 350 titles in their line, most of which were inspired by his own experiences or the personal experiences of others. Bruce is the sole author of the Light Lines(R) Originals poetry products published by their company, Wilmer Graphics, as well as the author of SIX other books of poetry, including HIGH ON A LIMERICK (1974), FEELINGS (1987), LOVE POEMS (1990), BELIEVE IN YOURSELF: POEMS OF PURPOSE (1998), POEMS TO CARRY WITH YOU ON LIFE'S JOURNEY: INSPIRATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR EVERY NEW BEGINNING (2012), and POEMS FOR THE ONE I LOVE (2013). What he calls his "purposeful poetry" has been sold in thousands of stores of every type nationwide and in over 45 countries in two languages. His verses express thoughts of love, friendship, family, inspiration, encouragement and communication. They are typically displayed on various types of wall scrolls or carried on little laminated cards called Wallet Stuffers(R). His greatest satisfaction comes from hearing the heart-warming stories and personal responses of readers to his poems. Making a difference and inspiring others has always been important to him. He continues to pursue his dream of touching hearts and souls and helping others to communicate and express their feelings by sharing his strong emotions about 9/11 in this collection of poems released just months before the 10th anniversary of 9/11/01.
