About the Book

Only have a few moments and you love to read? Try Flash Fiction. The 55 stories here are each 400 to 500 words. You'll meet lovers and haters, dogs and cats, and priests and prisoners, even space aliens and clowns, to say nothing of tales of murder and marriage. Enjoy!
About the Author: Michael Mayo Michael Mayo, who was brought up in England (boarding school and lordly patronage), still retains some of this angst deep in his psyche, which bubbles to the surface in some of these stories. He escaped the UK in his thirties and came to the Urology Department at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, where he spent 30 years on the faculty. He has published many scientific articles and book chapters and now, in his spare time, writes fiction. He has self-published two novels, Unexpected Deaths and Misconceptions, which are available on e-readers. Nancy Worssam Nancy Worssam was first published when she was 10 years old. The piece was a holiday poem that, to more sophisticated eyes, looks awfully like a rip-off of "The Night Before Christmas." She likes to think she's improved since then. Her work has sporadically appeared in newspapers around the country, and in two self-published books. Her career has included work as a Program Officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Quinnipiac College (now University) and various leadership roles in non-profit cultural organizations. Her Seattle theatre reviews appear on the blog: Arts Stage-Seattle Rage.com. Rosemary Mayo Rosemary Mayo was born in Australia when her mother was forced to flee Malaya as a refugee during WW2. She grew up in Malaya until the time came for the dreaded boarding school in England. She then obtained her RN in London. Three sons later, she moved with her family to Seattle. Here, after the birth of her fourth son, she went to the UW for her MA in English Literature. She has taught in numerous community colleges in the area and has always enjoyed writing. She has published in the Manhattan Literary Review and two collections of women's essays, and self-published two novels, Girl with Monkey, available in trade paperback, and Fall Out, available on Kindle and other e-readers.
