B. die Fallstudie, das Planspiel, das Szenario oder die Projektmethode, die sich allesamt besonders zur Vermittlung ökonomischer Grundsachverhalte eignen, häufig als sehr aufwendig und komplex wahrgenommen. Dass diese Wahrnehmung Einfluss auf den Gebrauch dieser Methoden hat, ist nicht abzustreiten. Viele Lehrkräfte ziehen es vor, sich "einfacheren" Unterrichtsverfahren zu widmen. Trotz dessen oder gerade aus diesem Grund soll in dieser Arbeit versucht werden, beispielhaft eine Methode heraus zu greifen, diese einmal selbst zu konstruieren und dahingehend zu analysieren, welche Voraussetzungen sie im allgemeinen und für den Ökonomieunterricht aufweisen muss: die Planspielmethode. Die meisten Schüler des allgemein bildenden Schulsystems haben sicherlich wenige oder gar keine Erfahrungen mit einem Planspiel gemacht. Auch Lehramtstudenten können kaum beschreiben, was überhaupt Sinn und Zweck eines Planspiels ist. Es wird also zunächst ein kurzer Überblick über die Methode gegeben und die Bedingungen für die Konstruktion und den Einsatz von Planspielen beschrieben. Anschließend werden die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des Planspieleinsatzes für den Ökonomieunterricht aufgezeigt. Dabei werden allgemeine Kriterien der Planspielmethode auf die Vermittlung ökonomischer Zusammenhänge im allgemein bildenden Schulsystem bezogen. Insgesamt soll herausgestellt werden, inwieweit und mit welchen Voraussetzungen sich das Planspiel unter den gegebenen Rahmenbedingungen für den Ökonomieunterricht anbietet.
