Hace cien años fallecía el Príncipe de las Letras Castellanas, Rubén Darío, creador del Modernismo literario y embajador de la lengua española y su literatura. También fue un hombre angustiado por la idea de su muerte y por el lado oscuro de la vida. Esta es la razón de que S. Del Hoyo Bascuñana, H. Martínez Sanz y el artista contracultural Iván M.I.E.D.H.O. hayan unido esfuerzos para la edición independiente del volumen Thanatopia y otros relatos (2016), una selección de la narrativa y cuentística más gótica de Rubén Darío, publicada en honor del poeta y el Centenario de su fallecimiento, en febrero de este 2016. El volumen recoge de treinta y tres relatos, cuatro ensayos y artículos, a los que adjunta un discurso al alimón de Pablo Neruda y Federico García Lorca en Argentina honrando la memoria de Rubén Darío, con el que se cierra la antología. Thanatopia y otros relatos cuenta con la generosa aportación del artista Iván M.I.E.D.H.O., siete de cuyas obras de la inédita serie Disrupted Mirror acompañan a los relatos de Rubén Darío. -http: //www.miedho.com -http: //hmartinezsanz.wordpress.com
About the Author: RUBÉN DARÍO (1867-1916). Su verdadero nombre fue Félix Rubén García Sarmiento. Nació el 18 de enero de 1867 en Metapa (Nicaragua). Fue hijo de Manuel García y Rosa Sarmiento. Fue educado por los jesuitas. A los doce años publicó sus primeros versos. En 1881 se estableció en Managua y se dedicó al periodismo. En 1883 consiguió empleo en la Biblioteca Nacional. En 1886 viajó a Chile donde publicó su primer libro de poemas, "Abrojos". En 1888 publicó "Azul", el libro fundamental del movimiento modernista. En 1892 viajó a España, donde frecuentó a importantes escritores e intelectuales como José Zorrilla y Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo. En 1893 viajó a Argentina donde conoció a Bartolomé Mitre y Leopoldo Lugones. En 1898 regresó a España y trabó amistad con Juan Ramón Jiménez, Ramón del Valle-Inclán y Antonio Machado. En 1902 viajó a Francia donde conoció al poeta español Antonio Machado. Es en este período cuando escribe sus libros más valiosos: "Cantos de vida y esperanza" (1905), "El canto errante" (1907), "El poema de otoño" (1910) y "El oro de Mallorca" (1913). Siguió viajando por varios países de Europa y América ejerciendo el periodismo y la diplomacia, hasta que regresó a Nicaragua en 1916. Se instaló en la ciudad de León y aquí falleció de una dolencia pulmonar el 6 de febrero de 1916.
