About the Book

This work draws from Analytical Psychology and Oral History and it has been tested experimentally since 1998. The method basically consists in mutual building up of a writen narrative where analyst and analysand will continually reshape the story in the analytical setting.Initially a group of sessions are recorded forming a unit to be transcritped and transcriated in a way that may integrate the analyst's voice and the rhythm of the conversation. This textualized narrative then returns to the analysand who will read it in session respecting the rhythm of the original narrative. Both analyst and analysand are allowed to intervene at any moment of the reading. The fase of the process is recorded again and the whole process should be repeated as much as necessary. In a secured and protected way the analytical setting will bring the analysand to really take part in the creative process of a narrative construction of his own history, what can make easier for him the identification of personal myths while he is in this process of telling and retelling to himself his narrative. Staying with the images, in a process of rereading of himself, potencializes his chances to recognize one of his myths and realize that this particular myth can be taken as a significant arrangement of his existence, taking into account the fact that in there we find the creative representation of a character with multiple possibilities of realization and development. This method deals with metalanguage, myth, literature, soul, in a way that facilitates the gain of conscience by the textualization of the narrative process. Just like a process of sucessive filterings, we go on until we have a end product that can be felt as satisfactory by the analysand, where finally his soul may feel contemplated.Textual Analytical Psychology is a touching book. It flows step by step, with an admirable clarity and fluent writing. Looks simple, but end up leaving a deep impression of a work accomplished under accuracy and care. As a reader, I felt immersed, invited, deemed. At some moments it seemed as we - the author and me - were enjoying some good wine while talking about texts, authors, and life paths. A pleasure. Because writing this presentation also called me from a place of friendship, where I admire Elisabete's seriousness and quality of work and also her availability to talk - qualities I could now confirm. The fact is that Elisabete is the creator of the Textual Analytical Psychology and also its creature. It is possible to glimpse, from this text of her authorship, how much being dedicated to its construction, application and widening of her method has favored her reflections and her professional growth. This is an important aspect of Jungian psychology: the concern for the wholeness and singularity of the person who is the therapist, contribute for his or her way of working. Jung considered that each one has his or her personal equation and that it should be take into account, besides the theoretical and technical basis."Laura Villares de Freitas
