Neste momento, a mãe de Ladomira, Miloslava, distraiu-se ao experimentar um colar, e Ladomira resolveu se aproximar do caçador. A viúva pagou a compra enquanto trocava um olhar significativo com o caçador. De repente, a garota se sentiu incomodada...

Pois em um dos lados da moeda, estava representada a face de Mercúrio, um deus eslavo desconhecido. Antes, os eslavos pagavam suas compras com pérolas do rio, mas quatrocentos anos atrás apareceram mercadores de países distantes, e suas bolsas estavam cheias de merculs. Knyazianos eslavos gostavam da aparência de um deus estrangeiro do comércio. Logo, as casas de moeda apareceram, e começaram a reabastecer regularmente os baús dos knyazianos com merculs de cobre, prata e ouro.
"Diga-me o seu preço", disse Ladomira, abaixando a mão em direção à sua bolsa.
"Dois merculs de prata e três de cobre."
A menina contou a quantia e deu as moedas ao caçador. Ele habilmente agarrou seu pulso.
"Eu ouvi - você é uma noviça no Templo da Mãe Terra Úmida. Você vai se tornar uma sacerdotisa?" Lesyar disse.
Ladomira soltou sua mão e jogou as moedas perto das peles.
"Coloque os produtos em uma sacola!" ela respondeu bruscamente.

Nuvens estavam se formando sobre a cidade sagrada de Radogosh, localizada no Monte Alatyr, situado em um matagal de uma floresta. O clima entre seus habitantes estava esquentando. A tensão estava no ar já há muito tempo, mas ultimamente ela só se intensificou.
