About the Book

1 Peter 5:7 - "Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you." What an amazing truth! The Lord our God and heavenly Father, the eternal, almighty God of heaven and earth, truly cares for us who are His own dear children. Indeed, He cares for us with the gentleness of tender love and with the multitude of tender mercies. As sinners before Him, we are not worthy of such tender love and of such tender mercies. Rather, as sinners we are worthy only to receive the outpouring of His fierce and fiery wrath against us. Yet out of the overflowing abundance of His goodness and grace, the Lord our God and heavenly Father pours out the multitude of His tender love, mercies, compassions, and care upon us.Oh, how this truth concerning the tender mercies of our Lord ought to fill our hearts with spiritual confidence, courage, and comfort. Herein we may find the spiritual confidence to set our whole-hearted trust and hope upon our loving, tender Lord. Herein we may find the spiritual courage to continue without fainting in the service of our loving, tender Lord. Herein we may find the spiritual comfort to rise up with fullness of joy in the fellowship of our loving, tender Lord.Who is a God like unto the Lord our God, who de-lights in showing mercy unto His own? (Micah 7:18) He is our loving Lord. He is "the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort." (2 Corinthians 1:3) He is the good Shepherd of His sheep. In gentleness and tenderness, He leads us in the right way. Even when He must lead us for our spiritual good "through the valley of the shadow of death," He will provide us with the spiritual courage of His loving presence and with the spiritual comfort of His tender mercies. (Psalm 23:4) Surely His goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives. (Psalm 23:6)Dear reader, it is my earnest prayer that you may indeed find spiritual confidence, courage, and comfort through the message of this small book. It is my prayer that the Lord may use the message of this book to direct the focus of your heart upon Himself. For the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord, Abiding in Christ, and Christ in us, Pastor Scott Markle
About the Author: Pastor Scott Markle (1971-present) started Shepherding the Flock Ministries (www.shepherdingtheflock.com) in 2010 as a ministry intended to exalt the name of Jesus Christ and the truth of God's Word through book publication, blogging material, and Bible ministry. He has served the Lord his God and Savior in pastoral ministry since 1992, and has served as the pastor of Melvin Baptist Church, a small country church in the thumb area of Michigan, since 1998. He has been joyfully married to his beloved wife Kerry since 1993; and they have been blessed of the Lord with two sons, Padraic and Westley. Pastor Markle's life-verses are Philippians 3:8 and John 15:4-5. "Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ." "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine: no more can ye except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in, and I in him, the same bringeth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." The burden of Pastor Markle's life is to pursue "the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus [his] Lord" and to walk daily abiding in Christ, and Christ in him. Concerning all his ministry, it is the burden of Pastor Markle's heart to exalt, not himself, but the name of Jesus Christ and the truth of God's Word. It is his burden that Christ must increase, while he must decrease. Therefore, he maintains the policy that his name, as the author of a book, must remain smaller, while the phrase, "For the Glory of the Lord," must stand larger above it.
