About the Book

If you went back a decade, would you have realized the technological advances that would have happened so rapidly? Would you have realized Amazon would have a Kindle, Apple would release iPhones, and would you realize how Facebook and other social media sites would become major distribution channels for news, content, and discussions? In 2006 Scott Poniewaz was already considering these developments with this book, which explored the current trends in technology and how they would develop over the next decade. A must-read for anyone interested in the crossroads of technology and journalism, as well as anyone looking to expand their understanding of how news organizations and media have gotten to where they stand today will find this book to be a great read. By looking back a decade at the predictions that Poniewaz made in his debut book, it will inspire readers to understand the world today and begin thinking about how to innovate in the journalism industry as it attempts to stay on pace with the rapid development in the world of technology.
About the Author: Scott Poniewaz is a marketing executive and startup advisor based in Austin, TX. Previously he was the VP of Product at FoundersCard, he co-founded the leading college daily deal site, CampusDibs, along with Dibsie.com, an evolving catalog that recommends home and fashion products based on a user's tastes, while providing businesses a quick and easy self-uploading platform for sale and marketing campaigns. Prior to starting Dibsie, Scott was the Director of India operations for Rustic Pathways. He was able to travel to 6 of 7 continents and awaits the opportunity to visit Antarctica. Before all of his globetrotting, he grew up in the Madison, WI suburb of Middleton, then earned photojournalism and studio art degrees from the University of Montana, while managing to ski in excess of 75 days per winter and honing his outdoor skills. When he grew tired of living out of suitcases and developing business in Asia, his growing interest in the budding NYC tech scene, startups, design, and fashion inspired him to lay his roots in New York and develop Dibsie.com. He also is a big foodie that not only enjoyed New York's never-ending list of restaurants, but also trying to recreate his favorite dishes in the kitchen. Having spent a majority of a decade living between New York and Asia, life took him to Austin, TX, where he now lives with his wife and Old English Sheepdog named Cayman. He is also pursuing his lifelong dream of being an NHL star in the lower ranks of Austin's adult beer league hockey.
