About the Book

Tears of My life is the unforgettable account of a dreaded famine that has claimed many lives. It is the story of Kofi - The author, whose courage to survive amid scoundrels is rare. His torturous struggles, worsened due to the death of his father, have inevitably left some dark stories-tales that gave birth to dangerous child labor. His luxury of food was nothing more than dried palm nuts with herbs or unripe mangoes. In abject poverty, he started school under a big mango tree and later in an old structure with palm-kernel walls. Looking back at his past, his many sufferings as a sand-winner, minor road construction laborer, and a lot more during his teen ages, Kofi felt that he was abused, victimized, and enslaved by his own people, and that was why he envisioned suicide as his last resort after the false betrayal of an evil friend. His awesome survival of partial blindness, inflicted grief, and undesirable dejection has lifted him beyond the odds with great hopes for the suffering children around the globe. As the reader goes through the dreaded facts of every wretched situation with him, Kofi smiles at the memories that lie like dust and ashes on his heart, while his enemies rot in the doldrums with shame, devastation, and hopelessness. Through each near-fatal struggle, you'll find yourself enduring his pain, comforting his dejection, and fighting for his will to survive. This inspirational story will remind you of the truth about child labor and the ability we all have to make a difference.
About the Author: Philip Gbormittah was born in Keta in the Volta region of the Republic of Ghana. He is rooted in the financial sector for over a decade and holds an executive MBA in banking and finance from ESG-the Paris Graduate School of Management in France. In May 2005, Philip was voted branch winner of Standard Chartered Bank's Loyalty Promotion Competition. Philip also received three additional awards in his financial career as a customer-centric individual whose humility and exhibited service standards were judged to be worthy of emulation and second to none. In July 2012, Philip was awarded Best Staff of Department; in October 2012, he was named the Overall Best FLA (frontline associate) for the southern zone; and in December 2012, he was the first to be awarded the International Award of Excellence from his employers. He was the very first to have won all three such enviable awards in a single year. He is a versatile individual with very dark life stories; he was a child laborer and a survivor of the 1983 famine that claimed many lives. Now an author and a relationship manager of a renowned international bank, he speaks English and French and writes fiction, nonfiction, thrillers, and poetry. He is highly interested in motivational engagements that inspire youth worldwide. Living above the average poverty line today, he often says, "If I have started under a big mango tree and later in an old structure with palm-kernel walls, and today I am working with a world-class international bank, trust me-you have the potential to become a president. Just don't give up."
