According to legends, the children of angels and humans, the Nephilim, were stronger, faster, and nearly immortal compared to their human cousins. In ancient times, they became heroes, warlords, conquerors and emperors--they were the stuff of legends.
But they proved too strong, too ambitious and too cunning for their own good. The wars and strife they caused decimated populations, tore apart cities and nations, and they threatened to overrun the world. The Throne stepped in and issued the Interdiction, which forced all the Nephilim to submit to Its will or be sentenced to death.
Unlike most Nephilim, Omedelia bar-Azazel--call her Del--had no interest in carving out a kingdom and dominating a population of subjects. She preferred a solitary life, making her own way through the world. In ancient times, she met and fell in love with Dami, a Mediterranean trader and captain of the Wavedancer. Together, they faced down pirates and storms, trying to create a future for themselves. Unfortunately for Del, the Throne had other plans.
Centuries later, in the present, under the strict threat of the Interdiction, Del works for the Throne. She obeys the angel Ahadiel, who gives her assignments. Her primary job is to keep the world safe from rogue demons who have escaped Hell. With her partner Marrin, she banishes the monsters who threaten the lives of humans, who are ignorant of their dangers.
But Del's latest assignment, which includes taking on three demons at once, may prove to be too much. Without a choice, she and Marrin set off on their task, uncertain if they will survive.
