La Doctrina del Medio (環境學說).Hay un libro medio olvidado entre las obras confucianas que lleva por nombre Tchung-Yung, más bien conocido como "la Doctrina del Medio" o segundo libro clásico, de extraordinaria importancia para la formación de altos valores humanos en el hombre, en la época actual, pero que en esencia, pocos emplean para este fin.La formación de altos valores morales y éticos en los individuos, hace recordar a los textos laosianos como el "Tao te Ching" o "Camino de la Virtud", por lo que al menos en este texto se alcanza un justo medio entre las dos corrientes ideológicas básicas chinas: Confucionismo y Laozismo, y aunque la doctrina del medio se considera como un texto confuciano más, este respire un halo de Laozismo inconfundible.De manera, que estamos en presencia de un libro, corto por cierto, pero muy concreto, en que se abordan y coinciden el pensamiento de Confucio y Lao Tsé en lo concerniente a un problema básico de estas ideologías, y también de muchas otras, relacionado con los rasgos de humanidad que deben poseer los hombres o lo que es lo mismo, la virtud alcanzada por estos, y en cierta medida como lograrla.El libro en cuestión, como algunos otros, no fue escrito ni redactado por Confucio, sino por el que es considerado nieto y discípulo del maestro: Tsseu - Sse (Zisi), que recopilo los pensamientos confucianos, algunos similares a los de las Analectas y lo publicó después de la muerte de Confucio, en un momento que esta escuela pasaba por una etapa de permeabilización de algunas ideas primitivas del actual neoconfucionismo.Para simplificar un poco el contenido del "Tchung-Yung" o "Doctrina del medio" podemos concretar que este trata sobre las reglas de la conducta humana, el ejemplo de los buenos monarcas y la justicia de los gobiernos. Cuestiones que por si solas dan una idea de la valía de su contenido. Este texto formaba parte originalmente del conocido como libro de los ritos y fue separado de él junto con el conocido como Ta Hio o gran estudio por el conocido erudito chino Shu Xi hacia el siglo XII durante la dinastía Song.Al texto en cuestión le precedía el conocido como "Ta Hio" o "Gran Ciencia" (Primer libro clásico) cuyos contenidos presentan cierta relación de continuidad entre sí.Raras veces el Cheng-Yung aparece publicado como texto independiente, por lo que muchas veces su estudio se diluye o se enmascara entre los otros, máxime si algunos de ellos se consideran ser el entro del confucionismo y una crónica fiable de la época, como son las Analectas y también el libro de Mencio, todos ellos contentivos de gran volumen de información.Por otra parte, aunque se menciona en las Analectas la necesidad de alcanzar el justo medio, este tema no se desarrolla como para llevarnos una idea del contenido de esta teoría.En cuanto a las Analectas en ellas Confucio dice: "... la virtud encarnada en la Doctrina de la medianía es de primer orden. Pero siempre ha sido poco común entre las personas". La doctrina del medio es un libro de instrucción y autosuperación para lograr, o intentar alcanzar la perfección humana, sin acudir a vías místicas o sobrenaturales para lograr llegar a este fin que solo se alcanza a través del estudio persistente, la tenacidad, la valoración introspectiva, la vida sencilla y austera, el principio de la verdad por sobre todo, también el renunciamiento a lo superfluo y el acercamiento a la naturaleza, cuestiones en que se aproxima al taoísmo.
