About the Book

Tarkash (Hindi) is the Hindi translation of Javed Akhtar’s fine collection of urdu poetry. Through these poems, Javed Akhtar takes his readers deep into the different facets of his life. Summary Of The Book When a world class scriptwriter and lyricist, who is the man behind many of the magical scripts of Indian films such as Don and Sholay. The original publication of Tarkash was in Urdu. For the great many Hindi readers who are fans of Javed Akhtar, Tarkash (Hindi) comes as a literary gift. Tarkash (Hindi) is Javed Akhtar’s autobiography, expressed in the form of poetry. In it, Akhtar takes his readers on a journey through his childhood, carefully recounting the loss of his childlike innocence with time. Soon after, his readers are pulled into the many joys and successes, and sorrows and struggles that were effected on him during his adult years. The book has a direct and powerful influence on its readers, as many are left reminiscing about the unpredictability surrounding their own lives. In this inspirational jewel of modern literature, Akhtar recounts his life starting from his early days in Lucknow and Aligarh. After undergoing a topsy turvy adolescence, he ends up starting his career as a ghost scriptwriter in the Bombay film industry. His passion for writing at the time is such that he turns down a source of steady income just to be able to earn his living through his writings. This risky decision, which could have taken Akhtar either way in life, eventually turned out to be a bold decision, what with all the success that Akhtar later enjoyed despite undergoing tough circumstances. This success hadn’t, however, come free of cost. It had taken a toll on him, and this concealment of a wealth of pain is sometimes visible in this surreal collection of poetry. Each of his poems, although appearing simple in its message, carries deep and passionate musings on life. The reader who is willing to dig deep and unearth the depth of meaning will find Tarkash (Hindi) an incredible source of inspiration and power. About Javed Akhtar Javed Akhtar is a lyricist, scriptwriter, and poet. Laava (Hindi) and Talking Songs: Javed Akhtar in Conversation with Nasreen Munni Kabir are among the books he’s authored. After coming to Mumbai in search of a writing career, he began working as an assistant and later as a scriptwriter in minor and unsuccessful films. But after meeting his friend Salim Khan, Javed teamed up with him, and the Salim-Javed duo wrote scripts for some of the most popular Bollywood movies of all time including, Sholay, Don, Seeta aur Geeta, and Andaz. He is the recipient of five National Awards, fourteen Filmfare Awards, the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Shri, and the National Integration Award.

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
