About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

With narration as forceful as a hammer blow, Late, Wrong and Never hits for its viscerality, and its faithful multi-ethnic portrait of Barcelona's streets.

Far from the glittering Barcelona visited and admired by tourists, the story takes place in the city's most disadvantaged neighborhoods, a forgotten territory where the increasing presence of immigrants is changing the landscape and lifestyle. There, in an environment of economic and social crisis where drugs, violence, and prostitution freely prevail, a group of young people, destined to be cannon fodder, takes center stage: Alex, who hears voices and has visions; Epi, his younger brother and colleague of Tanveer Hussein, the leader of the gang; and Tiffany Brisette, Epi's girlfriend and a real femme fatale who ends up getting entangled with Tanveer. The result is an explosive love triangle that ends up shattered and bloodstained, like the dreams of some kids that the hand of fate has put in the most unsuitable place.

Thanks to his special sensitivity to capture street speech, Zanón describes with stark realism the harshness of a marginal and marginalized society, which flourishes without remedy in large cities in the shadow of a sweeping globalization that engulfs everything.
