Pues sí, Federico Supervielle recomendó La tarde de los torpedos en el número 281/5 de la Revista General de Marina, publicado en diciembre de 2021. A continuación su reseña:

Segunda Guerra Mundial. Un pequeño submarino alemán se encuentra con una agrupación británica liderada por tres grandes acorazados. Pero la historia que cuenta la novela comienza mucho atrás, con la formación del comandante en la escuela de submarinos, la construcción del barco y el cruce del estrecho de Gibraltar para alcanzar el Mare Nostrum.
Esteban Pérez Bolívar hace gala de los amplios conocimientos que vertió en el ensayo El Mediterráneo en la Segunda Guerra Mundial para dar unas dosis de realismo a la novela difícilmente alcanzables. El submarino está descrito, sin romper el ritmo de la narración, hasta el más mínimo detalle, y los procedimientos usados por la Kriegsmarine se desgranan ante los ojos del lector.
La obra está protagonizada, principalmente, por personajes reales, respetando lo que se conoce de ellos y añadiendo el autor lo necesario para que cumplan su papel en una obra de ficción. Un puñado de otros personajes, fruto de la imaginación del escritor pero bien encuadrados en el contexto histórico, sirven para terminar de moldear una historia que engancha.
Si bien el resultado es por todos conocidos, el escritor es capaz de hacer trepidante el desenlace, presentando de distintas perspectivas y haciendo honor al hundimiento de un gran acorazado de 33.000 toneladas por un pequeño U-boot clase VIIC.
La novela acaba dejándonos con ganas de saber más del teniente de navío Tiesenhausen y la dotación del U-331, pero el autor tiene a bien incluir una amplia nota final en la que detalla los sucesos que ocurrieron en la realidad -que son más de lo que cabría esperar- y los que son fruto de su genio.

Esteban Pérez Bolívar ingresó en la Escuela Naval de Venezuela en 1981 y desarrolló cinco años de su formación en la Accademia Navale de Livorno, el alma mater de los oficiales de la Marina Militar italiana. Tras desempeñar la carrera de las armas durante varios lustros, pasó a ejercer cargos directivos en distintas multinacionales. Actualmente, está afincado en La Coruña. Ha publicado dos ensayos titulados Los raids de la Décima Flotilla MAS (recomendada por Arturo Pérez Reverte) y El Mediterráneo en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, ambos con clara influencia de su formación italiana, y otras dos novelas bajo el nombre A la sombra del Púlsar y El último mafioso.
