About the Book

In this book of short stories, you will learn about the lives of people living in Canada's Ottawa Valley as seen through the eyes of the author, Lyle Dillabough. Lyle has lived his life not just as an observer but as one who questions the present in seeking gems from the past. His love of local Canadian history and folk lore comes through in his many topics and songs. Local, in Lyle's mind means anywhere his interests take him. As a prolific songwriter, Lyle has a clear love of performing and has a real passion for radio. He has toured most of Canada, played in dozens of studios and performed before hundreds of live audiences. With his guitar in hand he is a true home grown showman. In this book, the lyrics of some of his favorite songs will resonate with you. In all his stories, Lyle finds a charming way to look at the past and blend in his hopes for the future. You will find some quirky stories, personal introspective and simple entertainment. As an award recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal, Lyle was commended for his community contributions and his numerous chartable efforts and his skill of capturing a story. Tagged with the nickname "The Valley Troubadour" you will see why Lyle has been able to incorporate his inquisitive nature into his writings, be they his short stories, his songs or his poems.
About the Author: Lyle Dillabough is a self taught singer/songwriter as well as a feature article writer. Lyle has been a performer since his teenage years and has focussed his interests on folk lore. Lyle has performed in dozens of radio stations and his music is played on radio for the most part, throughout the world. Lyle's feature articles have been printed primarily in local newspapers and Canadian magazines. This is his first book and compiles many of his stories and reflections. Lyle has performed with internationally known artists as well as playing solo in local halls and bars. Lyle has obtained hospice training and has helped many families. Lyle self identifies his own demons related to the hard parts of the music industry. Facing these harsh realities has helped Lyle overcome his own problems and go one to help others. Known as the "Valley Troubadour", Lyle has a passion for radio and through that medium has helped with many farm fund raising good causes and other charitable works. Like any author, he is always looking for a good story, especially one with a twist. As a father, he encourages his children to see the world through inquisitive eyes. Lyle appreciates the extrovert in all of us and has a talent for finding stories deep inside even the most conservative individual. His is a skill that is needed in this world.
