About the Author: Lyn Taryn is retired but was a Australian psychologist at the time this book was first published. She had spent over 20 years in active practice as a generalist psychologist and counselor, dealing with a wide scope of normal human dilemmas as well as specializing in relationship challenges. Over those years she counselled thousands of people. So often there seemed to be a lack of understanding of core psychological principles and common patterns which accounted for much of their suffering. Explaining these clarified many of their dilemmas and helped them more effectively focus on where change was needed. She also noticed many people were using methods of Creative Imagination ineffectively due to confused understandings. Many also wanted to know more about 'what made them tick' or who they were - but didn't know how to start a process of self-development. These needs formed the impetus for the present book. Lyn obtained her psychology qualifications from Melbourne University in 1973. She also has a 'Certificate in Couples Therapy' through Relationships Australia and have done the basic training in relationship counseling of the eminent Gottman Institute in the USA. She also holds 'Certificates in Grief Counseling', 'Critical Incident Management', 'Post Traumatic Stress Disorder', 'EFT' (Emotional Freedom Technique), 'EMDR' (Eye Movement Desensitization Response) and 'Reiki' 1&2, as well as Diplomas in 'Ericksonian Hypnosis' and 'Solution-Oriented Counseling & Psychotherapy.' Lyn is a longtime member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She was an early member of their Transpersonal Psychology Interest group and has been interested in exploring the Self beyond the usual psychological context. She has been actively been exploring the field of self growth for over 20 years.
