About the Book

I love story-telling and I travel often given my profession. Hung up in airport layovers for one reason or another, these two short stories came to mind this year: A Raindrop Drops...And Raindrops, Like Bullets, Hurt! It takes readers through a series of emotions from anticipatory joy to pessimistic doubt. Droplet, its main character, is a developing anthropomorphic raindrop determined, destined to make an everlasting impression upon release from Mother Cloud. In the world below is Mahdi, a toddler in war torn Qatar; who experiences his first storm in the drought-stricken region. The ensuing bedlam is bittersweet...The second story: "Roommates" is about two unlikely roommates coming together for practical reasons graduating Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. It provides an in depth look into these Millennial go-getters' lives: dating and family drama; Velcro, on-off again relationships... making it as new grads in Charleston, South Carolina's swank downtown will require discipline, connections, introspection and growth. Question: having little in common going into this arrangement, will more result coming out?
About the Author: Cathy L. Bagley, MD loved to spin tales since tender youth growing up in Brooklyn, NY's concrete jungle... She lived across from Brooklyn's Public Library, which fueled her mind's engine to daily seek out new after school destinations explaining how at ten, she discovered the name of the doctor she aspired to be: obstetrician & gynecologist. She went onto college in New England a earlier than peers advanced forward as a longtime participant in NYC's public school specialized gifted programs. An Ivy League undergraduate degree (Dartmouth College) and joint Ivy medical degrees (Dartmouth Medicinal School & Brown University School Of Medicine) were conferred in the 1980's. Dr. Bagley has since practiced her medical specialty in a variety of settings spanning over twenty-five years! She is a divorced mother of two adult children- one serving this great nation in the armed forces; the other, a multi-talented business woman, opera singer, graphic artists and salsa dancer residing in Dallas, Texas. In addition to locums work obtained through her company, CaLorBa Enterprises, LLC, Dr. Bagley is a green-friendly artist resident in South Carolina's breath-taking Low-country. She recycles goods into wearable/usable gifts available in her shop on etsy.com called CaLorBa & Company One of a Kind designs (www.calorba.com). She has collected many seeds for sowing, enough to yield vast creative harvests in this lifetime having authored several works of fiction: Love, Damn!; Word B Words, Right?; Word Plays & Stories: Memoirs of a Traveling OB/GYN series: Minnesota/Connecticut, Montana; Vicarious Healing and, In Other Words & Directions. In closing, Dr. Bagley journeyed far from that wide-eyed, inquisitive child reared in Brooklyn, NY... herself becoming a raconteuse, a weaver of tales she once sought out to release her mind from its bodily restraints in a concrete jungle! Perhaps, in turn, one of her tales might find its way back to Brooklyn stimulating another child's curiosity and adventurous potential to travel even further... and, so on!
