In 1968, I was diagnosed with jaundice.
In 1981, I was diagnosed with hepatitis B.
In 2016, I was diagnosed with chronic HBV.
In 2017, I was diagnosed with cancer-diffuse large B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
I battled them all and through it all, I still stand tall to tell my tale of two diseases. I won. The title is in gold colour. Gold is for winners. The front and back cover of cherry blossom, the swallow, the pathway and forest all symbolisms.
My chronic hepatitis B viral load is now undetectable and my cancer gone. I am in remission. The tale is my 50 year journey from 1968 to 2018, transitioned from complete apathy to taking full responsibility for my health such as empowerment, education, knowing my family health history, quiting smoking, skipping alcohol, moderate exercise, eating healthy food, sleeping 9 to 5, recording, tabulating, charting and analysing all my medical test results for all to see. I am now an exceptional patient. I wrote the book while undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. When I was told I had cancer, it inspired me to write. A book is born. A book with contents that may SAVE A LIFE. That is the sole purpose, a purpose I consider to be worth the while. Writing heals, no "chemo brain," ...healthy, yet cancer. I cannot recall the last time I had a cold. My mental attitude and fortitude played a major role in my recovery. I have the power to change. I am in control, not my doctors, genes or fate. I am with my body all day long, everyday. I know it better than anyone else. I probably saved my life by "early detection, better outcome."
