About the Book

Life challenges all of us. This book is meant to empower everyone who struggles in life. Which we ALL do. This book gives the life story of a young girl who faced more trials and heartbreak in life than most will ever endure. It is a story of hope and resilience. There have been many stories written on hardship. This one is unique in the sense that it all happened before reaching 25 years old. The key message is urging people to share their story and to learn from others mistakes no matter how bizarre. Each story has a purpose and each life has worth. Everybody has a story. Not everybody is willing to share their life story. This book tells the story of a girl who took the pen back from life and wrote her own story. The key is that just because your life starts a certain way, does not mean it has to end that way. Your past does not determine the trajectory of your future. It is possible to create a new life. To be resilient means having the ability to dream.
About the Author: A native from Detroit Michigan, Rachel knew hardships from a very early age. She was in the foster care system and lived in many homes before the age of 18 with periods of homelessness. Rachel realized that resilience was crucial to survival. This insight led to her motivation in writing her book "Taking Back The Pen". Her theme is promoting resilience. She has an audience of individuals who look up to her to gain wisdom and motivation to get through life's challenges. She teaches not to simply survive, but to thrive. Rachel's book was not intended to be a commercial success but was oriented for impact. The book has had an astounding success. As a young published author, Rachel felt the need to travel in order for her to better understand the human condition. She's traveled worldwide and visited over 30 countries promoting her book, and doing mission work. She hosts a weekly neighborhood group for promoting empowerment on a personal level to those in her community. In the inner city of Detroit, she works with human trafficking victims and volunteers at homeless shelters as well as working with Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST) to provide homeless and displaced individuals an opportunity to transition successfully towards independence. She mentors individuals with PTSD and addictions and advocates for the underprivileged youth to obtain resources and scholarship opportunities to go on to college Rachel Fischer serves as a forensic nurse examiner in Detroit and Houston and has been certified in the care of adult and pediatric sexual assault victims, as well as holding the position of Registered Nurse at a level 1 trauma center. She realized that her story of resilience and talent of communication with people who are suffering from extreme circumstances, was more important than her medical training. A spiritual person by nature, Rachel is often asked to speak at churches and local community agencies, to empower those who need motivation and the keys to success in becoming resilient.
