Out of the natural love parents have for their children, they are compelled to help them achieve success. Each child desires and deserves to live a successful life. Therefore, the success of every child is important to uplift the family. The training a child receives from his parent(s) should help him competently manage his actions to achieve whatever desires he has. For example, the book helps families by outlining principles and characteristics essential in their development to become who they want to be. All an individual has to do is practice its teachings and use them as guides to a more rewarding life. The book offers a unique advantage to readers from the author's perspective of being a child who grew up in poverty, lived in a broken home and later on to a great extent subjected his own children to some of the same conditions he existed in. "Take My Hand" is a guide for changing lives in a positive way. Too many children and adults are living their lives without success because they do not have the knowledge necessary to lead them in the right direction. No one taught these children how to be the successful when they were at the right age. Therefore, failure is perpetuated from one generation to the next. Now, in this guide the information for turning the tide from failure to success is available to you. As a father who has made mistakes by having my children with more than one woman I was not able to be a hundred percent father, even-though I wanted to, and their mothers needed me to be. I felt like garbage. I was of no use to myself and them. My contributions were not making the difference needed for them to be happy. When I was with them, my mind was never really there. It was in many places, trying to figure my next move to make the situation better. No one knew, except me that this was the cause of my unhappiness. All the hurt I caused my children and their mothers stemmed from the deep despair that languished in me. I broke out of my hopelessness when I got involved with an adult Christian group, called the Gospel Vibrators. This is a Prison Ministry Group comprised of young Christians from different churches. The group's main purpose for more than thirty years is to go to prisons and juvenile facilities and minister to the inmates. I participated for many years, and there my life changed. I leaned about human conditions and what causes a person to end up in a place such as a prison. Of all I have seen from the prisons and the juvenile facilities, and what I come understand about human beings: given the proper training many negative circumstances can be avoided. There is only one way to have hope in a child achieving any means of success. It is through proper training, nurturing and guidance. If a child is not given the opportunity to experience the fundamental characteristics of success, chances are that child may end up in a juvenile facility and prison. That is why I have given myself an chance through all my missteps to do something of value for another child, since I didn't do it for my own children.
