Sócrates y el Demonio muestra un futuro postercera guerra mundial iniciado por Trump, entre otros. En esta realidad futurista y distópica se vive una kratocracia: el gobierno de los más fuertes. En este reinado la esclavitud es el pan de cada día, una esclavitud que se muestra como principal motor de la sociedad para servir al coloso: el rey, el más fuerte, el campeón del coliseo. En esta narración se vuelve al concepto romano de coliseo, solo que este es moderno y cuenta con tecnología y ciencia muy avanzada basada en estudios teóricos actuales. Aquellos que quieren salir del estado de esclavo se tienen que hacer luchadores. El luchador más fuerte, el que vence a todos, se convierte en coloso y por ende, gobernante del lugar. La historia busca ser principalmente didáctica, para ello, se tratan temas sobre diferentes campos del saber como la biología, la química, la física o la filosofía. Es más, la evolución psicológica del personaje se corresponde con la evolución de la mentalidad filosófica desde Sócrates hasta la actualidad. Esta obra también se caracteriza por tener una trama principal que se finaliza con un giro argumental muy inesperado que da lugar a una bifurcación infinita de posibles finales. En síntesis, la narración trata sobre cómo se podría conseguir al luchador perfecto y mejor gobernante. Sin embargo, se tratan muchos temas filosóficos e interesantes de discusión, entre los que destaca la cuestión sobre si verdaderamente se podría alcanzar en un gobierno o ser humano tales estados de supremacía y perfección. De hecho, el tema de la obra es el relativismo que reina nuestra realidad y nos permite ver las cosas de una forma u otra. ¿Realmente existe algo bueno y algo malo de forma universal? ¿O simplemente son categorías subjetivas que dependen del que observa? Además, Sócrates y el Demonio es una novela muy original que se diferencia de otras por su elevado carácter didáctico y otros aspectos, como que en la narración se incluyen fragmentos de otras obras que fueron publicadas por el propio autor para dar lugar a un mayor contraste polifónico que enriquece la obra enormemente.
